supplies for my parakeets?
i have 2 parakeets and i want them to have babies. i surfed the internet and i found what i needed for them to breed but can any1 tell me were to get those supplies??
the supplies are:
.wooden insert with a concave circle
.pine shavings
.cuttlebone
.different perches
.tube warterers
.inverted jar feeder
.seed mix
.powdered vitamins
please if any1 knows what stores i can find all of this at plz tell me. thanks
First thing first...are your birds of age. 12 months and over ? If so, full steam ahead. If not wait and do not put a nestbox in.
Any good bird supply store will have all those things.
Well before breeding is on the cards you should have been feeding your birds a varied diet including vegies and a calcium supplement. A liquid calcium supplement in their water is good .....as cuttlebone is not the ultimate calcium supply. Birds more often play with cuttlebone than use it for its calcium.
A bird on a good varied diet as suggested by Libby B does not need pellets. A budgies beak is designed to hull seeds, not highly refined and articial products like pellets. In this modern day of highly processed convenience foods...I still believe natural is best. My birds get the very best of quality seed, vegies of all kinds and natural Australian branches like gum and pepermint ( natures medicines )....while they are on all that they are in PEAK condition and have no need for articial paste type mush that is extruded through machinery and dried out and served in the form of PELLETS.
Seed and suet feeders needed. Bird Houses too.
