Buying and Selling: Before You Have a Yard Sale
When there are things you no longer need in your house, the cleverest way to get rid of them is to sell them at a yard or garage sale. The most common item at a yard sale is a collection of clothes. The next common items are toys, especially from a family with growing children. Occasionally, furniture, appliances and other electronics are sold at a yard sale. Shoes and bags are good for selling too.
When selling used clothes, make sure that they are still good for use. It is a cautionary measure to have faulty ones repaired first. The same can be said for shoes and bags. Your items are more appealing for buyers when they are in an acceptable condition and that can still last them just a little bit more.
Toys attract buyers better when they are clean and intact. It is poor etiquette to sell a baby doll with chipped paint or missing eyes or limbs. Check if the toys have parts that may injure a child like torn plastic with pointed edges. Some repair might be necessary.
